When is the event?

The Fleet Feet Sports Soldier Field 10 Mile takes place on the Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend. The 2012 event is scheduled to start at 7am on Saturday, May 26.

What events take place at the Soldier Field 10 Mile?

The 2012 event features:

  • the 10 Mile race along Chicago's beautiful lakefront (that finishes on Soldier Field)
  • the Hut-Hut Hike, a variable distance walk around Chicago's Museum Campus
  • the Kids Blitz (ages 5 – 12) a kids race that runs down Soldier Field

When does registration for the race open?

Online registration for the events open on Veterans Day, November 11.

When does race registration close? Is there a cap on the number of entrants?

The 10 Mile Race and Kids Blitz are limited to a maximum of entrants (see below). Registration will close once the limits have been reached. Walk registration will be accepted through race week.

Race registration limits are:

  • 10 Mile Race = 17,500 participants
  • Kids Blitz = 200 participants

Is there a time limit for the 10 Mile Race?

The finisher entrance to Soldier Field remains open to allow participants running a 15 minute/mile pace to cross the finish line. All participants must complete the course within this time frame.

Will I get to go on the field if I do the Hut-Hut Hike (walk)?

Unfortunately, due to space and time constraints, participants in the Hut-Hut Hike (walk) will not have the opportunity to go on the field.

Can I get a refund or transfer my entry to another person?

All registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable. No exceptions.

Participant bib numbers may not be exchanged with or transferred/sold to another person. Sale, trade and/or transfer of race entry/bib number is strictly prohibited and may result in the disqualification of and/or banning offenders from participating at future events.

What are the race features?

  • Participant Shirt - gender specific technical shirt for 10 Mile Race participants, cotton t-shirt for Hut-Hut Hike and
    Kids Blitz participants
  • 2012 Commemorative Stadium Blanket distributed after the finish to 10 Mile Race participants – photo coming soon
  • Personalized Bib Number for 10 Mile Race participants (must register by April 15, 2012)

When and where can I find race results?

Race results will be available online at both www.FleetFeetChicago.com and this website by 5pm on race day.

Will there be awards for the winners?

Awards are presented to the five male and five female finishers overall, in addition to the three male and three female finishers in each age division. Overall winners are not eligible to win age group awards.

Age divisions are: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59,
60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, and 80 & over.

When will I receive my bib number and start position assignment?

All registered participants will be sent an email with their bib number assignment and race week details the week of May 14th.

How does the wave start work?

The 10 Mile Race features a multiple wave start designed to ensure a positive race experience and provide all participants the same opportunity for a smooth and safe start with sufficient room to run along the course. Participants select expected race pace/finish time during registration to assist with start line assignments. There may be multiple waves assigned to a pace.

As a reminder, your official time does not begin until you cross the start line. The timing system provides each participant with an accurate time from the start to finish lines.

What happens in the event of inclement weather?

The Fleet Feet Sports Soldier Field 10 Mile will take place rain or shine. If cancellation of the event is warranted due to dangerous weather conditions, announcements will be made race day at the race site. The event will not be canceled in advance. All decisions regarding cancellation will be made on site, race day.
